87 CGT: Cruise Control revisited Arrrrrgh

Okay. On the recommendation of several listers, I went out and
purchased a Sunpro Multimeter (CP7678) for about 80 bucks at Western
Auto.

Before I did anything with the Multimeter, I took someone else's
recommendation and checked the vacuum attachments to the clutch and
brake pedals. Everything was attached and appeared normal. I
noticed that one wire which went to the vacuum housing on the clutch
pedal was loose. I reattached it firmly and took the car for a quick
spin. No go, cruise still doesn't work.

Took the car back, disconnected the control unit harness under the
passenger side dash and ran a test on the unit's ground. Bingo.
There's no reading on the multimeter. Problem solved. The book of
Bentley tells me to repair the ground on the control housing unit.

The only problem is, I cannot find anything wrong with the wires.
They all appear to be in good shape. No corrosion or breaks, no
mouse bite marks anywhere. What can I do to ensure that the ground
is proper?

I knew that I had found a problem too quickly.
