RE: Quattro takes on a Humvee - and wins.

I saw an interesting sight about 3 weeks ago. I saw a Hummer and a Land Rover
stuck in a mud bog. It appeared that the Hummer got stuck 1st and the Land
Rover got stuck trying to pull it out. Whats funny is that I thought that
these were the ultimate off-road machines. I don't know what pulled them out
but it must have been very large.

Well, I've been mulling over whether or not I should tell this story for a
couple weeks. You people are my very closest friends in the whole
cyber-world, so I think it's time I got this off my chest.

You see, I was driving home from a leisurely Sunday afternoon brunch with
my wife in our beloved black 91 Coupe Quattro, throught the river valley
when something red caught my eye. A vehicle, behind the tennis courts,
where none should be. Some activity going on around it. Always trying to
be helpful (and in no particular rush), I drove in for a closer look. Lo
and behold, a big red Hummer. And a 2 foot high snow/ice bank, the
remnants of the winter's parking lot clearing efforts. Problem was, the
Hummer was STUCK. Totally. High centered. It had made it all of 4 feet
out of the parking lot before becoming immobilized. The two occupants were
milling about, looking forelorn. What a golden opportunity - I roll down
the window and move closer, my wife tries to look invisible (she has a
sense about these things)... The Hummer pilots eye the Quattro
suspiciously. I lean out the window and yell:

"You guys look like you need some help! I've got four wheel drive!"

The Hummerites mumble something about a brother coming with a shovel. And
I vacate the DMZ before they are able to find the optional Sidewinder in
the trunk.

Heh. Heh.
