Subject: I-5 engine powers

Hi all,

Just looking at a few spec sheets, I was wondering if anyone could shed a
little light on this question: Why is it that my 82 2.2i of 2144cc size and
Bosch K-Jetronic produces 136bhp/100KW, whilst a new 2226cc engine from a 90
or Coupe still only produces 136bhp/100KW, presumably with some kind of
modern EFi.

What's happend to those extra ccs? And if this it true, whay are the modern
cars performing better on paper?

Cheers,

Mike
