RE: Quattro 4000 Mods list

Many. There are actually people who do these conversions for a living. I am in
the process of doing mine right now with a freind. It is difficult but very
doable.
* >intercooler must be remote mounted
True but easy to remedy.
* >a/c unit is essentially unfittable into the 4k, and must be abandoned
Not true. The urqs front end is basically the same as the 4kq and all the
ur's here in the states had air. I don't think I will be able to use the
location that the 5kt uses but I can use the ur's system.
* >lots of custom machine work needed = $$$
No custom machine work that I know about. Maybe a little fabrication for the
battery tray and possibly some for the accellerator linkage but hardly machine
work.
* >Total cost is usually $6k or so for the conversion.
WHOA not even close. My conversion will probably cost me <$2500 COMPLETE.
The guys that do it for a living charge ~4000 for the same conversion.

6-8 MONTHS!!! More like 2 months downtime max. I am expecting my car to be
down about 1 1/2 months. I took about 1 month so far to get the engine out of
the car but I only spent maybe a week total with someone helping.

Or for about 2500 you can have a 225 hp car that is still very reliable
(albiet a little more complex). 200k on the turbo motors is the rule not the
exception.
