I haven't had any head gasket problems or oil leak problems with mine (so
far.. knock on wood... salt over the shoulder etc... whatever it takes to
appease the Audi gods...). I also had bought mine with 49k miles on it. I
now have 107k miles and the car is going strong. I did, however, have a
tranny problem when I first bought it, and the dealer REPLACED the tranny
with a "new" one from the factory, to the tune of $5,000 U.S., courtesy of
Audi. I sure was glad it was under warranty...

Did you buy this car from that dealer? If so, did you get a warranty with
the car? Hopefully so, and I hope that they fixed it for you...

Hmmm.... I have a dipstick on mine. That's strange... why does Audi "stick"
it to some of us, while others don't get the same treatment? (Yeah, that
statement has a dual meaning, that's for sure....)

Even the dealer won't check the fluid? That's odd... in one breath they tell
you to check it frequently, in another they won't do it for you? Time to
look for another dealer?

Good luck.
