DRIVER'S SCHOOL AT WATKINS GLEN



On July 24-25 (Thurs. - Fri.), Allegheny Region of the Porsche
Club of America (Pittsburgh, PA area) will be putting on a
high-speed driver's education event at the Watkins Glen race
track.  This is open to all cars and drivers (Porsche Club
membership NOT mandatory) meeting the following conditions:

- Minimum of 18 years old with valid driver's license
- 1990 SA or newer SNELL rated helmet
  (Note: "M" rated NOT acceptable)
- Long sleeve cotton shirt, long cotton pants, leather
   or canvas shoes
- Safe vehicle (street car acceptable) meeting:
     3/32" min. tread depth
     Good quality brakes (brake fluid flush/bleed
          HIGHLY recommended)
     Body/suspension tight with no play/major rust
     Seatbelts for driver and passenger (equal restraints/
          seating MANDATORY for both)
     Convertibles require rollbar above driver's head (with
          helmet on) and arm restraints
     Targas run with tops on, sunroofs must be closed

Only one novice driver allowed per car.

Cost is $190 per driver.  Each driver will get paired with
an experienced instructor, and will have approx. 2 hours of
track time per day.  We have small run groups - approx.
30 cars per group.  Passing is allowed only on designated
straghtaways, and ONLY if the car in front waves you by.  In
addition, there will be mandatory classroom sessions.

Need something to do over the weekend?  Saturday and Sunday
there will be a New York state wine maker's fair at the Glen 
racetrack.  More information on this event can be obtained
from the registrars listed on the application form.
