I had the same thing happen to me, but I didn't catch it until it was too
late -- that little ear with the bolt-hole snapped off.

No way to fix that.  Time to buy a new (rebuilt) alternator.

Since then, I've had a habit of checking those bolts from time to time.

An ounce of prevention...
