Re: Adjustable Cam sprocket

Thanks to M. Tipton $ Qship for responding to my inquiry. I took a
closer look at the sprocket and here is what I found out:

On the front:
Around the center (around the bolt) there are markings corresponding to
each woodruf slot marked 1-8, and "S" (9 total). There is a mark on the
edge; it's a dot and it's aligned between the "4" and the "5" marks.

On the back: (I could only see what was visible thru the small window
on the rear timing belt cover)
There are a series of letters aligned with each symbol on the front.
They are all in pairs:
there is an 'A B' corresponding to the "S"
       " " " 'C D' " "8"
       " " " 'E F' " "7"
                    . .
                    . .
                    . .
there is an 'O P' corresponding to the "2"
and there is a line corresponding to the "1"

There are also some other markings on the spokes:
"GK3_____" <- I could only see as far as the three
     "049 1 __"
     "ENGL____"
and the VW & Audi logos.

Now, has anybody else on the list come accross sush a rare item? It
doesn't appear to be a modified part, or else they did a really good job
on it. Does anybody actually know how it works for sure?

Thanks,
