am wondering how many races Audi has won since they first started. Or at

Porsche...this is part of that ongoing argument about how viable Audi is
as a manufacturer with my friend....thanks in advance...

Well, if you go back to the 30's when auto racing became so popular, Audi was
present in other forms (Auto Union, mostly) The silver arrows of both AU and
Mercedes Benz were incrediably sucessful. Out of the group, MB and Porsche
are the most prolific "winners", and I think Porsche can take the title due
to lack of MB racing from 1955 to mid 1980's. Audi won several Rally
championships, but Audi didn't really start racing seperatly until 1980.
It's first real win was Pike's Peak, I believe. Since then, I would guess
that Audi has victories in the 100's, it won seven touring cups last year
alone, competed sucessfully in IMSA, and has always had Rallies. Obviously,
not the racing program of Porsche or BMW, or even the touring car force
Mercedes had 3 years ago. But Audi is no sloutch, either.....although they
have hit another low point, as they did in 1990 when IMSA outlawed the
turbocharged 20v 90 quattro driven by Hans Stuck, BTW, Mike did you get my
Stuck picture?
