Service Bulletins

Here is an interesting article that was in the local AIAA newsletter:

"When your car needs repair, have you ever wondered if the manufacturer
has issued a secret warranty? A secret warranty is when the auto
manufacturer pays to repair a problem with your automobile, BUT ONLY IF
you know about the warranty. If you pay to have it repaired, no one
will tell you about the warranty or offer a refund. That's why they
call it a 'secret' warranty. The manufacturer enacts a secret warranty
when a pattern of repair problems develop in a car design, which while
not serious enough to trigger a Recall, is sufficient that a design
defect can be alleged. To avoid a potential class action lawsuit, the
manufacturer may offer to pay to repair the cars of those who complain.
The NHTSA maintains a database of potential 'secret' warranties, (aka
Manufacturer's Service Bulletins)...search it yourself for free on the
Internet at (http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov)"

I went there and got a listing of all of the service bulletins for my
'90 coupe (wow 57 of them). One of them was for the speedlines and it
clearly states replace w/improved wheels.

Has anybody tried using these bulletins to get repairs done?
