I am having similar problems in my CQ.  The only functions that work all
the time are the range and timer.  The instant mpg, avg mpg, avg spd,
and fuel used functions occationally act as if they're missing some
info.  I haven't had a chance to check into it (to many other things
higher on the fix-it list) but I would also be curious to hear about
possible solutions.
