Wellll, not quite.  The Rover P6 sedans (2000TC/3500S) have a rear Girling
system (mounted inboard next to the final drive) that can only be retracted by
screwing the piston into the caliper.  They even have a special tool for
performing this function in an otherwise virtually inaccessable location. 

There ought to be a word that describes machinery designed by someone that knew
they would never have to work on it.

To get the rear caliper pistons to retract, you need to use an allen  head
socket (maybe 13mm ? I can't remember) to "screw" the piston back  into the
bore.  This setup actually works well.....  

No, I have never seen this on any other car either... :)
