J,I am not sure what you mean by "up into the bumper". The rather large 
tips exit exactly where they would if you had the oem rear muffler. 
Perfect fit in the cut out area in the rear fascia.One suggestion,the 
slip connection between the cat and the center box is in a very tight 
area between the drive shaft and the heat shield thats attached to the 
body (floor). A normal 2 3/4" clamp hits the shield and you get a 
BZZZZZZT noise. I used a stainless flat band clamp 3 1/2" wide, for 2 
1/2" size pipe. It has grade 8 bolts to TIGHTEN it. No more BZZZZT. I got 
my system 12/96.
