Many Thanks To Everyone - Long
Let me start this thankyou note with a preface. I LOVE my car now!
Thanks to everyone that offered suggestions, ideas, and troubleshooting
steps in the process of fixing my car. Those combined with Scott's
ability to understand quattros, and my ability to stay mostly out of the
way hav sovled the problem. In the end the Oil-Spewing forth from the
top of the head was due to the wrong valve-cover gasket. Let me warn
everyone; the part was received from Blau; and while it is not clear
whether or not it was a part number or shipping mistake please be careful
when ordering that gasket from Blau. I do not wish to cause any
slanderous messages here but that gasket caused ten hours of diagnostic
work to have to be performed. Please everyone else be careful! In the
end here is the list of my most expensive Audi week ever:
1) New Bomb
2) New Lifters
3) New Valve Cover Gasket
4) New K&N
5) Cam Advance
6) New Fuel Filter (not yet installed due to frozen nut)
7) Gobbs of labor (time) trouble-shooting the wierdest vaccuum leak
ever...
8) Another New Valve Cover Gasket (the correct part this time)
9) New All-Metal Radiator (Scott's masterpiece)
10) Nick-knacks from the dealer (spark-plugs, rubber radiator mount)
Once again the car is getting back to the form I remember. The next big
change in one of Graydon's big 3-inch exhaust, which should add a little
fun-factor. I cannot thank everyone enough. Late-evening calls to gets
specs from the Bently were always welcome and I hope that the privelage
was not abused. Scott, you were a huge help; thanks.
I hope my liberal application of cubic-dollars has eased the pressure for
sacrifices to the Audi Gods...
