Yeah, the lifters will make a bit of a ticking when the oil is in need of
replacement, but NOTHING like that damned sound the vacuum pump created! You
could hear that a mile away and most people who ever heard it probably thought
the car was about to throw in the towel! <grin>...

I just pulled it off! 
I still have some ticking left...but I also need to change the oil.
