Another Ticking Sound?

Okay, I've seen the brake vaccuum pump ticking malady described here. But
I've had another ticking sound that's been bugging me for about two years.
Oil changes don't seem to solve the problem. 

The ticking is there when the engine is cold, as things warm up, the sound
goes away...but it can still be faintly heard even when the engine has
warmed up (I mean it's reallllly quiet by that time). 

Looking into this about a year ago, I noticed that the sound came from
around (or directly from) the #5 cylinder. Unplugging the spark plug lead
for that cylinder resulted in the sound going away entirely. 

I'm stumped as to what this could be. Any suggestions?
