brake drag
As a recent owner of an 89 200, I'm trying to solve the riddle of
intermittent brake drag. It appears to be heat related. I saw two
replicas of this problem in the archives but never saw a solution.
When underhood temps get up there, which is finally happening in
Minnesota this year, the steering wheel shakes (if at higher speeds),
the car slows down seriously as the brakes are ON!!!--not full blast ,
but enough so that the engine works to overcome it.
I've replace rotors, pads, inspected calipers, changed fluid to
Castrol DOT 4 and it occurred again. A local import shop thinks the
push rod to master cylinder adjustment is off. I backed it off a couple
turns
but have'nt fully tested this yet. The problem seems independent of ABS
as it also occurred with dash ABS switch OFF.
My wife is now afraid of this "beast"--her words. Can you help?
I'm new to the list, so be patient with me. Thanks.
