Bomb Question?

On my 87 5KTQ I had loss of brake pressure the other day when it was
pretty hot out and I was in stop and go traffic. I checked the archives
and I think it is the bomb. I still have a couple of questions, any help
would be appreciated!!

1)The brake pedal went almost all the way to the floor. Is this normal
when the bomb goes out? It seems to me that I should only lose power
assist? If this is the way the power assist system is designed then I am
surprised that when the system (i.e bomb) fails you lose brake pedal.
Both brake a hydraulic fluid levels were O.K.

2)After going into a store for about 45 min. the brakes were fine even
right after start up but went away again in stop and go traffic. Is
losing the bomb pressure temperature related?

3)With cooler weather the last couple of days everything is fine
although I can't pass the 20-30 pushes on the brake pedal test (about
3-4 pushes is all it takes to lose assist!!).

4)I have access to pressurized Nitrogen and was wondering if you can
recharge the bomb yourself. I know I will probably get flamed for even
think this!!!! Maybe I have more courage than brains!!!

Thanks
Russ
