re:16 inch dia wheels for 89 200TQ?

Scott -

I just went through the whole exercise, for my 90 200 qw.
Allmost all the aftermarket wheel people will tell you that a 35 mm offset
wheel will fit. They are wrong. I bought a set of Dial wheels from discount
Tire Direct with 205/55-16 tires on them. They hit the rear outer fender, so
I sent them back.

I found exactly 16" three wheels available that can be had with 42-45 mm offset
and the correct bolt pattern.

Ronal R-15, 5 spoke, (the spokes make a right angle turn towards brake rotor
right where they meet the rim, which I don't like), $150.00 from Ronal

BBS RX (42 mm offset), $270.00 from Tire-rack

Compomotive Race, 5 spoke, $180.00 from Motor Sport Specialties. They will
make the wheel whatever offset you want (up to 48 mm).

Ronal also has the R-20 available, an 11 spoke wheel which is nice, but it
has a 49 mm offset, and they did not know if it would clear the suspension
bits.

I wanted a second set of wheels so I could keep my snows mounted, and have
summer tires mounted also. I did not like the R-15s, and didn't want to spend
the money for the BBS or Compomotive wheels. I ended up finding a set of
the "oldsmobile Rally" wheels from an 86 5000 tq, which I really like. They
are 15", but with the potholes around boston, its a safer solution anyway.

Good luck,

Dave
