Anyone _successfully_ rebuilt a Bosch mechanical metering unit

No, they can't.  We cannibalised a head that was due to go back to Bosch for 
rebuilding.  The lower O-ring is identical to the upper one, but apparently 
doesn't wear so much - so we took the lower one out of another head.
 
But yesterday I found a Bosch fuel injection specialist who actually runs an ur-
quattro as a daily driver, and he's only fifteen miles away.
