It's certainly NOT Pass & Weisz in Burlington! I called them on Friday
morning looking for my pump, belt, and seals and found a remanufactured
H2O pump for $100.75, a timing belt for $44(I think, but at least >
$20), and then I skipped even asking for prices/availability of the
front engine oil seals because the first two parts had required taking
out a second mortgage on the house, which could not be done!
After hearing those out-f#(%!n'-rageous prices, I asked if they gave a
discount(not that it would make a ding in the total) to us list
members...and guess what I received as an answer.

**Alright, I'll tell ya! I think it went like this:
"A discount? No. For what? Oh no, we don't even have computers back
here. The Quattro list, huh!? What is that? ...No way, ...anyways, you
know where we'd be! Yep on the nudy pages. Hehehaha ...we wouldn't get
anything done...heheh heha!"
**My reply:
"Alright, I have to get off the phone. Thank you again and sorry, but I
can buy a new pump for $45! You can't match that, can you? No I didn't
think so....I'll just have to drive to N.H. to save 50%, that's all! I
have to go, later!"

After getting back from Autoparts Foreign only two hours later(total
driving time about 1 hr. 15 mins.), I have a NEW pump, a timing belt, an
idler pulley, the front camshaft seal, AND 5 Platinum plugs that only
came to a total of 97 tax-free dollars! That TOTAL is LESS THAN what my
dealership wanted for JUST the remanufactured pump before taxes!!
Unbelieveable!! And some people actually trust these dealerships!?!!?
My car should be running again soon....unless I get lazy and start
watching the Motorola 300 today, which would lead into the hockey game
and then that would lead to the basketball game tonight. No car. :-(
Tomorrow I will watch the Grand Prix and fall back asleep and then my
girl will want to go out, so I will have no car. :-( Maybe Monday
night?! Then again... ;-)
I just hope the valves are O.K. ...I should know once I buy an engine
compression gauge later today. If they are and everything else is
working(IF, IF, IF), then I will tell my importer(Scott @ Autoparts
Foreign/800-682-2443) to get those lifters he mentioned for only 10
bucks a piece! And so it goes, I have already thought of a project for
next weekend when I may not even have a working car. :-(
