OK, y'll O2 sensor suppliers out there... how much? Time for my car too.
(Splicing is fine as long as you know which end of the soldering iron
is which ;-) ).

You should pull the error codes from the computer _before_ turning the
engine off next time this happens... take a fuse and plug it into the
socket in the fuel pump relay for about 5 seconds, remove it then
read the codes flashed by the check engine light. You get a long flash
followed by groups of up to 4 flashes, each group of four is one digit
of an error code and an error code is four digits long. 4444 is the
'that's all folks' code. If you don't have a Bentley manual, post whatever
codes you get here and someone can look them up.
