Re: Intercooler / Piston problem [huh?

Well, maybe "revolutionize" is a bit over the top, since we *are*
only talking about getting colder air to where it needs to be, Scott.
But, if you are ordering custom units from Spearco, or elsewhere, the
incremental change is not nearly as large as what can be done. As for the
single pass units [91], spraying water on the IC, etc., these things are
good, because they help *some*. That is also the downside, since they do
not help enough [relative terms, I know].

The Audi turbo cars we love don't IMO, treat the heat under the
hood as well as it could be with a little extra effort at the factory.
The stock air box is, really, kind of a mangled affair and sucks air that
is pretty darn "dirty" and quite warm. IC is in a little better position,
but still doesn't get what it should. Add to all of this some pretty
extreme underhood temps and restricted exhaust, and you kind of start to
see why the stock hp numbers are no better than they are.

Hmmmm. Guess the automakers just found a way to cut several
billion in expenses over the next few years, huh? Those damned R&D
projects really can be a drain on profits. You might be onto something
here Scott. I kinda like the evolution of the automobile, doesn't mean
everyone has to though.
