Re: CB radio

I just bought a portable CB and cheapo mag mount antenna. Same mounting
place on the trunk. I did not notice any difference in trunk mount or roof
mount performance, but felt it would get less direct air on the trunk.
(BTW, was just in Montana and the mag mount was tested at 140+ and did not
blow off :-). I just tap power from the cig lighter. No noise and I am
getting a range of between 5-10 miles on receive and transmit. I ran my
antenna cable in by the rear speaker, down the side of the seat, under the
rear floor mat and up between the driver's seat and console. Takes about 5
mins to route it and I can move it from car to car with ease.
As for the noise, keep the antenna cable away from anything electrical that
you can and try a clean power source. You may need a filter cap across the
power leads.
