Oil pan plug stripped-option #4

When I stripped my drain plug. I went to the local parts store and
got a half size larger self tapping plug and a sealing washer. I
covered the plug with grease and threaded it in about 1-2 turns.
Removed it and cleaned off the cutting. Treaded it in again about
1-2 turns further, removed and cleaned the cuttings. Kept doing this
until it was all the way in and seated. Result- no more problem
total cost <$5.00.

My second choice would be to have my friend use his mig welder and
weld a nut to the pan, over the existing drain hole. Then thread a
new drain plug into the nut. This could be a little tricky to get
everything lined up. But I do know of it having been done.
