(Fwd) Which rack is better for an A4? -Reply

** High Priority **

Tell your friend that I used to sell these things.
Factual (or at least close to)
(1) Thule is much more beefy construction. Quick check...have you
ever seen bent bars on top of a car? Always Yakima, never thule.
(2) Thule fit kits are better fits to all cars, and you can usually
fork out less $ to out fit two cars with one rack using thule.
(3) As of five years ago Thule had many more options.

(4) Yakima is a lighter, and I think more attractive system.
(5) Yakima round bars allow ski holders to be folded down for better
wind resistance when not being used.

Opinion
I use Thule systems and while I think the system can be cumbersome
due to weight and fitting, not as pretty, and definitely less
refined...it does its primary job best - carrying stuff!
P.S. Thule now has cuter, more refined systems to compete with
Barracrafters, Yakima, etc. Not nearly as versatile as the original
system, but if only using it for ski rack, this may be another
option.
Also, if you lower your A4, put neon license plate frames, a bra, a
hitch for your jet skis, install a cheap subwoofer AND leave the ski
racks on the car for summer cruising, Quatgott the head Audi God will
most certainly punish you severely!!
