Re[2]: Further question on vacuum pump



The pump mounting flange bolts to the side of the head with an o-ring 
for a seal.  No method of moving it closer is evident.  Perhaps within 
the vacuum-generating part of the pump (that I didn't try to 
disassemble) there is an adjustment that would somewhat lengthen the 
hexagonal shaft.

Is it not feasible to move the pump,and hence rod,nearer the lobe,and 
preclude any clearance altogether?
