removing large suspension bushings without a press (generic content)

Taking a break from my weekend repairs on my '90 200, and '82 coupe I
decidided to re bush
the rear suspension (support arm) bushings on my 84 volvo turbo wagon.
After many hours in the hot sun looking at the steel jacketed hand grenade
size
bushing and seeing that the bracket to which this bushing is well press
fitted-- Yes it doesn't come off with the support arm so that the machine
shop can do the press work.I realized that my 30 year collection of every
tool I could possibly need, was one
short. That my Schley super wheel bearing puller would not work
as the diameter of the puller is way too big. Trying to hammer it out is
out of the question- from the heft of the bushing and that of the thick
steel bracket,it would seem to require a 15 to 25 ton press to get the job
done. Anyhow ,if anyone has any ideas
before I throw in the $300 towel, tia. Mike Posner
