White Out (Re: Crank bolt removed...)



     As far as getting the camshaft timing correct, I never saw anyone 
     correct/flame the person who suggested white-out on the cam and crank 
     pulleys and the belt, in order to maintain relative timing.  I thought 
     this sounded like a great idea and am going to try it, but want to 
     double-check that no one had a reason not to.
     
     My question to the original poster is, does the whiteout stay on the 
     pulleys well?  I'd be afraid I'd accidentally wipe it off and be SOL.  
     Do you leave it on after you've finished the job?
