A4 competitor debut
Alfas have done poorly on the assembly and quality reviews I've seen for
the last two years. They also don't have Quattro, haven't been
occaisionally beating Saab and Volvo in accident survival, and have much
less distribution in the U.S.
They probably aren't ready to challenge the A4. When you buy an Alfa, it's
because you want a slightly quirky-looking, ergonomically-quirky, fun car
that isn't very common. Different niche.
(Of course, my A4 hasn't been a paradigm of quality. Just had new lifters
installed after less than 10000 miles. Barrier says it's the first V6 of
this series (A4/A6/etc) that they've had to open. Just my luck.)
