WTB-1986 Turbo 'puter.
First, sincere thanks to those of you who responded to
me with suggestions and offers of help on this one.
Went to the boneyard to buy the new computer, luckily
they let you check the part first, installed the "new"
Hitachi unit and car ran even worse. Went through it
again for leaks, nothing. In an inspired moment,
(desperation might be a better word) decided to
re-install the old throttle switch (his mechanic had put a
brand new one in last week). BINGO, the new switch
installed before was evidently defective. I tested the
new switch several times, and ONCE through the corner of my
eye I thought I saw the ohmmeter throw some strange
numbers for a second. Car runs great now.
My best guess as to what happened was that the car was
running badly, before or after determining that the
switch was bad, the mechanic must have fixed the problem
by adjusting or repairing something? But, then when he
installed the defective switch it caused similar problems
to the ones that had been corrected.
