I drove on a loud throwout for about a month (1000 miles) of mostly
highway with no problems. The throwout was pretty trashed when I got
into the clutch!!!

I guess it boils down to how paranoid you are about getting sranded with
no clutch. I also figured I could not use the clutch to limp home if it
went out completely. Kind of tricky to get started - have to use the
starter to get going - not good for the starter either!!
