I was able to stop my leaking power steering pump (hydraulic pump)
recently by replacing the o-rings in the 5 or 6 external caps. I
determined that the leak was coming from one of the bottom caps. A
rebuild kit was about $18 but it included shaft seals and other o-rings
that I didn't use. The caps are a real b*tch to un-screw. I made a tool
by grinding down a large chisel. I guess an impact driver works better.
Make sure you lube the o-rings before installing. I still have a slight
seepage but have not had to add fluid in three months!!!
