The best stuff I've used is Armorall Quicksilver.
But, as VW newgroup guy Mark Sirota put it, "anything
that works that well, that quickly, has got to be doing
something to your wheels."

The key to Quicksilver is to leave it on ONLY for 30 sec a wheel,
and spray it on the wheel when it is dry.

I still use it on and off, and have not seen any ill effects on
my MSW rims, which I've had for a few years now.
You might also try straight Simple Green and a small brush.
