Electric Demand Charger

Has anyone ever heard of this type of supercharger? I was cruising
the Imparts web page and found this link:

It is an electrcially-driven on-demand supercharger that provides
5.0 PSI of boost under certain throttle conditions. For the price,
it seems like an intriguing alternative to turbocharging for us
normally aspirated folks.....
