Re: Papers in tire story

Someone doth spake:

<I don't find the "papers in the baggie" story too unlikely.>>

Um, if I really wanted to identify my car, *one* of the things I'd do would
be to mark the *wheels* inside with my name, address and soc sec number or
license number with a permanent marker. I'd also mark the body with the
same (like in the trunk under the spare tire).

I wouldn't trust a baggie, tho.

I have used this trick on bicycles, but have never owned a car *that*
valuable *and* non-distinctive. Any of my cars are typically identifiable
as mine from 30 feet or more. In fact, at a college reunion once, a guy I
hadn't seen, or talked to, in several years came up to me, during a
football game, and said "Nice car.", referring to a car I had only bought
several months prior.

He had seen my car parked outside the football stadium, and given the car
and how it was parked, he knew it was mine!

It was a Volvo 1800ES sportswagon, btw.
