This sounds suspicious to me as well ... however, I CAN vouch that writing
your name/address/telephone number in magic-marker on the inside of the
wheel is something that WILL last a LONG time.  I recently came across a
wheel with MY name on it at the local junkyard and had forgotten that I'd
done this back when I used them for racing in order to prevent any mixups at
the shop that used to mount my tires...
