Well, far be it for me to not attempt to fulfill the prophecy.

Got my previous car, a 1986 5000 CS quattro, with an April 1986 build,
in April 1991, with 23600 miles.  Not the record, obviously, but a
dynamite find.  Paid a little more than book, but I did get it in
Minneapolis, where the market for Audi's is pretty strong.
