Good deal ($) for an '82 coupe gt?

I have ran across a guy who has an '82 coupe gt he would like to sell. 
He recently purchased a 4000 q and needs to get rid of it.  The car is in
fair condition, I don't have particulars, and he was hoping to get
between $1500 and $1800 for the car.  Is this reasonable?  He has a nice
stereo in the car and is apparently hoping that that will bump the value
of the car up.

(On a side note, I met him while he was trying to sell the car at a
public car auction.  Not very smart.  Especially if he wanted that much
for it.)

I was thinking the car may be more like $700.  Any help?
