Re: Good deal ($) for an '82 coupe gt?

>I have ran across a guy who has an '82 coupe gt he would like to sell. he
was hoping to get between $1500 and $1800 for the car. Is this reasonable?
He has a nice stereo
I was thinking the car may be more like $700. Any help?
1500-1800 seems a bit ridiculous unless the thing is in mint condition and
say under 150k miles. "nice stereos" don't increase the value of the car
unless they are exactly what you want - and they can mean a bunch of hacking
went on under the dashboard and for speaker holes, which you will someday
have to deal with.
I paid 2300 for my 82 coupe 3-1/2 years ago, and it looked NEW (140 k miles)
. I mean it really did. Also the engine was clean, no rust or cruddy
buildup.
My insurance pegged it at about 1200 last fall when I drowned it. hth
PS if it's an 82 it isn't "really" a GT, is it? I thought that nomenclature
came into use a couple of years later...
