My new neighbor...

I was out washing my cars this morning at 5:15am (the sun's up by then and
you have to wash them early out here lest you end up with waterspots
everywhere) and ended up talking with the man who just bought the house
across the street.

Turns out he's from Rochester, Minnesota and this is going to be a winter
home for him and his wife ... much to my surprise, it also turned out that
he owns an Ur-Q!  His is an '83 (Gobi Beige) that he bought with 40k on it
back in '89 for $9,950 and he said it's stock except for the Konis he had
installed last summer because the OEM ones "finally died at 90k."

Unfortunately, he said it's unlikely he'll ever bring it out to Arizona but
he's thinking about finding a Lotus Esprit Turbo to keep out here ... must
be nice to have money!  BTW, he complimented me on the wheels on my Ur-Q and
said that if the roads were in better condition up there, he'd consider
going to something other than a 15" wheel himself ... as it is, though, he
said he's had to replace two of them in the last two years after hitting
large potholes.

He said he'll bring a photo of his car with him the next time he is out and
promised to lend me his copy of the Quattro book by whats-his-name that I
can't seem to find anywhere ... a small world, eh?
