Any DIY fix for power window regulators for '82 coupe?

I've tried to do this a couple of times.  I had to drill out a rivet so I could 
demount one of the pulleys to get the slider off, and then it was quite 
straightforward.
 
The slider is carried by a small brass bead crimped onto the wire.  I never 
found a satisfactory way of achieving this - I think you need a power press of 
some kind.  Soldering is insufficient.  I used the services of a local bicycle 
shop, but perhaps a motorbike dealer would have heavier equipment.
