While we're on the subject, I've got a question about replacing my pump.  Do
you really need the VAG 3214 tool to get the pump out?  I tried to take it out
last weekend, without success.  Of course, I'm not too comfortable with banging
metal tools around down in there, and my hands didn't seem to provide enough
leverage.
