        I was able to take mine out by hand (without the tool) without too
much difficulty.  As I recall you just push down on the plastic rim and
twist.  DON'T twist it by the pump motor - it's rubber mounted and you're
more likely to bust the mounts than remove it.  You need thick gloves since
you'll be pushing on a plastic part with lots of "features" (otherwise
known as edges, waiting to dig in).
