Moving to the UK

Dear quattro listers,
Well, as much as I am enjoying my quiet, safe life here in Ottawa 
Canada, it is time to leave the colonies behind! I am being packaged 
up and shipped off to England for at least a three year term. Here is 
my difficult Audi-related question:
I have only owned my lovely '90 90q20v for a year but I am absolutely 
in love with it. I bought it for a fantastic price, it is in 
immaculate condition, and I know its complete mechanical state and 
history. I have invested a great deal of time and effort in getting it 
to this point and I would hate to part with it!
While in England, I will not need daily auto transportation. On the 
other hand, most of my family lives on the continent and it would be 
very convenient to have a car for weekend jaunts and vacations. For 
those a little slow in reading between the lines, what I am implying, 
is that I am considering taking my car with me.
QUESTIONS: Has anyone had any experience moving a car to England from 
North America? What is involved in doing this? Does my car need to be 
modified in anyway to be legally driven in England? What about legal 
issues? Or insurance? How is Audi servicing in England? In fact, do 
people even drive Audis in the UK? (wink wink, nudge nudge)
