Re: Non-heated OXS in place of heated unit

-- [ From: Huw Powell * EMC.Ver #3.1a ] --

When I changed my coupe's engine and switched to a 4kq downpipe/manifold,
for a while I ran an unheated OXS (a heated one with the heater not
connected) in the socket I installed just ahead of the cat (the stock one is
unheated but right in the manifold, no problem getting that up to 600 deg F!
). The engine would not settle down and run properly. Finally hooking up
the heater (to the coil +12 wire, I decided the 200-500 mA drain wasn't
going to matter since I ran my parts coupe's *fuel pump* off the coil for a
week) made everything nice again.

I would suggest you stick with what the car is designed for - it may be
there "just to make the emissions work" but the whole system depends on
every component performing correctly.

Just MHO, but the single BTDT seemed to confirm it.
