5KCSTQ holds own with only a minor bloody nose
guys,
I ran the Cen-Div SOlo II here in FLint today with the 5KCSTQ.
Normally I would have run a car more appropriate to the task, but nothing
was available this time, so I tried out the 5KCSTQ. With the
aftermarket EFI, suspension work, and 3" exhaust, that placed me squarely
in E-Street Prepared. This is the class where you can do almost
anything you want with suspension, intake and exhaust. You can also run
any wheels/tires you want as long as the tires are DOT approved.
Unfortunately, the tires are the only area that my car really lacked
prep. I ran the D40M2s on my 300ZXTT wheels.
Even so, I placed 12th out of 23 entries, and considering I was
on street tires while most of them were on sticky tires, I thought that
was a pretty good showing. The car was very strong in the straight
sections, but it really lackewd in the corners for ultimate stick. It
transitioned very well, and turbo lag was not a big problem. I think
with sticky tires I might have at least trophied. At least two of the
top drivers were nationals contenders.
There were quite a few nice cars including a ratty but still nice
'80 308 GTB (Jeff G!) What a beautiful car!
Then tonight on the way back from the video store, the turbo
coolant hose split. Argh. As if I didn't have enough work to do already.
