Yeah! They were screwed up so bad, that their windshield washers were connected to the lawn misters
in front of the intercooler :^)
BTW, time permitting, I'll implement this brilliant idea of yours.
On a distantly related subject: in 1984 I had water injection in one of my carburetted Ladas. The
effect, that it made, was_absolutely_stunning!
Net effects were: increased HP, lower fuel consumption (down to ~7L/100km/h from ~10L), the ability
to use a lower octane fuel (76) and absolute lack of carbon deposits_anywhere_in the combustion
chamber.
The catch was - I would go through a complete exhaust replacement every 2 years (it did not handle
hot water vapor too well). Well, who cared, it was cheap.
The trouble was, I could not run water injection continiously. For half a year the temperature would
drop below 0°C and water would freeze.
