Synthetic tranny fluid

I'm about ready to take my '92 100S in to have some tranny work done on it.
It is leaking fluid around one of the seals, so I'm having the seal replaced.
When they replace the fluid, should I specify they use synthetic tranny
fluid? I've heard it mentioned a couple of times on the list. I don't
remember if the results of its use were positive or negative. Thanks for any
help.
