Delta Flight 80- NY JFK to Amsterdam

Hi all,

There's something decidedly anticlimactic about watching New York disappear
form under you while listening to Depeche Mode's 'It's not good'. The final
episode of two incredible fun-filled weeks, which would never have happened
but for the quattro list. The great people on this list have made these two
weeks a possibility and an incredible adventure.
I would like to extend my special thanks to listers James Marriott and his
charming SO Karen and to Mike Del Tergo for their hospitality and
incredible trust in letting what was in effect a complete stranger loose on
their wonderful cars. Thanks guys, it was a dream come true. As most of you
who haven't been there have undoubtedly read by now, the Pikes Peak event
was a great success, confirming my suspicions that there are lots of nice
people on this list. It was one great feast of self-indulgence and
incredibly wonderful for a car nut to meet fellow addicts, and experience a
culture where cars are not politically incorrect.
To all whom I've had the pleasure to meet, who let me drive (or ride) their
incredible cars and made this (to coin a phrase) 'insanely great' I would
like to extend my thanks. Now I know which faces to put to lots of names,
what's the deal about all those different Audi (and some non-Audi!) cars,
and what life in the US is like (or at least the fun bit of it). To all
whom I've missed: sorry guys- two weeks is _way_ too short, but I'll surely
return. In the mena time, keep writing about anything Audi and keep this
list a great resource.

There's actually only one negative side to this adventure- I now want a
quattro!

Tom

PS Chris S- I've asked, and no, the airline won't allow a 20v engine as
carry-on baggage ;-)

PPS Reconnected coil lead, car started first time. Smelled a little funny
inside, though.

Now I see that I should have been more specific.
